I have been asked to create a set of 'Peeps' Felt Up accessories by Steve M. for his nieces; he wants bunnies and chicks to resemble the spongey neon Easter candy so dear to my heart. He also wants several 'kits' that would allow the wee tots to put together their own felt Peeps. As if a mere child could figure out the incredibly intricate, detailed, SKILLED work that goes into making a Felt Up product! Of course, M and all of his relatives are PH.D's in engineering, so I think the kids may toss these back and roll their eyes when they see how easy they are to make. I think I will do the glueing in advance, though; even geniuses can burn their tiny fingers on a hot-glue gun. Lord knows my paws have suffered greatly for my Art.

Well, I just saw the new issue of Ready Made magazine, and there's a section by designer Todd Oldham on some kind of felt project (an organizer you hang on your wall?) and the headline was, "Felt Up." I do not have a copyright on Felt Up as it relates to felt accessories, but I still feel...cheated. A little used, perhaps. Certainly nonplussed. I was goiing to send in some of my felt crap to Ready Made in the hopes of getting a wee feature, but now what? What if Felt Up as a term for felt accessories sweeps the nation, and I look like a Jenny-come-lately? Hrmm. Well, there's always Budget Living, Jane, Bust, Venus, Lucky; maybe none of them saw the article. Why, Todd, why?

Just noticed at the Blogger homepage that they are throwing a drinks-n-schwag event at Club de Ville here in good ole Austin for SXSW! As a member of the Blogging community, I feel that it is my sacred duty to consume huge amounts of fine scotch, make a spectacle of myself, and blather on and an on about MY BLOG! If any fellow Bloggers are coming to South by Southwest, please stop by my incredibly good-n-cheap vintage clothing store, BLUE VELVET, on 'The Drag' or Guadalupe Street, across from the University of Texas. My felt accessories line, FELT-UP, is available for sale there. Or look for the drunken faux blonde girl with the scotch in her hand and a lot of felt pins on her lapel at Club de Ville on the 15th, and when not talking about her Felt Up line she can give you slightly incoherent, rambling directions.

This is quickly beginning to resemble my old high school/college journal, which was always difficult for me to keep every single day..and eventually dwindled down to lots of entries that started with "I MUST keep this journal every day, I simply MUST" and then the next entry would be in a different decade. I've just been very, very busy--but not with anything particularly interesting, sadly. I was in San Antonio today, looking for crapola, and was fairly successful. Found a good haul of vintage kids' clothing that was super cute. Almost cute enough to want to have kids. ALMOST. Maybe I can dress up the Corgi.
Speaking of Corgi Corner, the dog seems okey dokey. My wee Weslsh one is a little lonely with me away from the house more (working at the store, going out of town more), but his health, thank the sweet lord, is fine. For now. The proof is in the pudding, if you know what I mean and I think that you do.
As for the Felt Up line, so far there have been no takers for my (theoretical) line of Easter chicks, bunnies, Peeps, or whatever. People are, indeed, passing them over. Fine, be that way! Next up: Shamrocks-n-Shelelighs! Leprachauns! Who WOULDN'T want a creepy felt leprechaun barrette, huh? WHO, I ask?
Oh, one bright spot in an otherwise bleak week: The eBay cowboy boots stayed sold, yippie! Actually, all my auctions went well, for once. As of tonight, no returns. My fingers are crossed...Next up, Ozzy Osbourne tour shirt, painted Mexican skirt, western shirts, and possibly a few more of my most treasured t-shirts. Look under seller name jenbb. I might try to sell some Felt Up products on eBay soon, too.
